Residencies & Site Specific Commissions

July 2007 Mosaic Friendship Bench, Holly Lodge Primary School, Surrey
Designed & sub-contracted concrete bench. Designed pattern & mosaiced bench in collaboration with pupils and parents.
Oct 2006 – Oct 2007 Possibilities are Endless, Campbell Centre NHS Milton Keynes
Two site commissions for an acute mental health facility. Worked with staff & patients to design, project manage and implement a new exercise space and a courtyard garden. Funded by the Kings Fund.
Jan – Dec 2006 Community Conversations, Hadley Learning Community, Telford
Text-based commission collaborating with writer & the community.  Multi-media & multi-site internal & external interventions (includes etched/painted plaza pavers, vinyl film, laser-cut steel).  Commissioned by Impact Art.
Apr-July 2005 ‘Dumal’s Tree’, Pound Hill Infants School, West Sussex
Designed a sculptural tree with integral seating for playground to commemorate death of pupil. Led mosaic workshops o tree trunk with family, friends & staff.
Apr – June 2005 CIRCLE Wall, Hadley Learning Community, Telford
Design & concept for Pre-cast concrete panels: multi-lingual text, words negative cast plus embedded copper letters across 20 metre external wall. Commissioned by Impact Art.
Jan – Mar 2005 Windows Project, Heathfield Community College, East Sussex
Project with Yr 7. Words & images based on ‘learning’. Creating photomontages, prints & series of screen-printed etched windows for library.
2003 – 2004 Talking Glass’, Thomas Bennett Community College, West Sussex
Research residency about the school before its relocation. Culminated in 9 windows of etched text for current building & 3 light-boxes to be installed in new-build.  Commissioned by West Sussex County Council.
April 2004 Etched Glazing, Manor Green Primary School and College, West Sussex
Commissions for 2 new-build schools.  Workshops with pupils fed into the design of 2 sandblasted glass entrance doors plus internal etched glazing.  Commissioned by West Sussex County Council.
Jun–Sept 2003 Sanctuary Courtyards’, Fountain Way Hospital (new-build), Salisbury
Acute Mental Health Unit. Workshops with staff & patients about ‘Healing’, resulting in 10 windows of etched text & imagery for 4 internal courtyards. Commissioned by Impact Art.
Mar – Apr 2003 Lobby Doors, Chichester High School for Girls
Acid-etched & coloured film lobby doors for new extension, main entrance.
Jan – Feb 2002 Celebration Mobiles, Maidenbower First School, West Sussex
Collaborative project with painter and printmaker.  Working with all pupils, using variety of materials & 3D techniques to create collaborative Mobiles.
June 2001 Perspex Wall, Ipsley Middle School, Redditch, Worcestershire
Member of artist/architect team in conjunction with MADE. Workshops with pupils produced a Perspex window installation, for new school extension.  Commissioned by MADE West Midlands.
Jun – Aug 2000 Journeys’, Hunter & Partners architects, Chichester
Residency with architect practice culminating in a commission for a new-build school: Pound Hill First School. Three sets of glass/light box installations & poem. Recipient of a Year of the Artist Award.
Jan - July 1995 ‘Elements of Dialogue’, Thomas Bennett Community College
Residency working with 250 staff/pupils, live art & temporary installation in school gymnasium, creating a performance & interactive space, public open evening. Recipient of a South East Art Award.
1995 Wall Water Feature, Copthorne Junior School, West Sussex
Working with staff & pupils to produce mosaic water feature for school grounds. Recipient of a South East Art Award.
1995 Interpretation Boards, Visitor Centre, Buchan Country Park, West Sussex
Artist team collaborating with Park Rangers and Educational Officers.
1994 ‘Water of Life’, Gossops Green First School, Crawley, West Sussex
Working with staff and pupils to produce mosaic fountain and pupil’s mosaic tiles for pond surround in school courtyard. Recipient of a South East Art Award

Working with Year 8, 3D assemblage box art, creating worlds in a box.

Dec 2007 Workshop leader for ‘Learning Spaces Living Spaces’ conference, at HLC, Birmingham City Council.
July 2007 Workshop leader for action research evaluation & new commissioning brief for Children’s Centre, with parents & staff plus Yr 9 pupils, HLC, Telford.
2006 Creative Consultant to Desmond Anderson School, new-build, Crawley;  commissioned & project managed gallery & display systems plus 2 integrated commissions ( calligraphic text on wall & acrylic panels with pupils).
2005 Lead Artist to Paediatrics, University Hospital of North Staffordshire, PFI new-build; research, consultation, workshops, produced arts commissioning document.  (This part of the build subsequently dropped by government review).
June 2005 Speaker & workshop leader for Architecture Week, Corby Borough Council.
2005- 2007 Lead Artist to Hadley Learning Community, £70m PFI new-build, Telford;
overall artistic vision, development of commissions & community programme.
2002 - 2004 Lead Artist to Crawley Special Schools new-build; follow-on from design
team residency, managing 5 artist’s commissions plus specialist contractors.
2003 Speaker- INSET for teachers ‘Arts Weeks/Residencies’, Surrey County Council.
1999 Co-managed bid for new studio premises for ‘2 by 4 Artists’ in Horsham.
